Lux Bio Secures $1.5 Million in Pre-Seed Funding to Revolutionize Long Duration Bioluminescent Technology

Lux Bio, the innovator behind sustainable bioluminescent solutions, announced today the successful closing of its $1.5 million pre-seed funding round. The round was led by Brickyard, with participation from Agfunder, Tawani Ventures, Women’s Equity Lab, and Climate Capital. This funding marks a significant milestone in the company’s mission to replace chemiluminescent industrial lighting applications with bioluminescent alternatives and to expand the scope of bioluminescent technology as a whole.

“Our vision has always been to combine science, sustainability, and innovation to create products that truly make a difference,” said Paige Whitehead, Cofounder and CEO of Lux Bio. “This funding enables us to scale our manufacturing capabilities, advance our product development, and bring bioluminescent technology to markets ranging from industrial safety to entertainment and recreation. It is truly a testament to our technology development, market potential, and team that we have been successful in raising venture capital. I am so excited to continue building Lux Bio into the global phenomena I know we can be.”

Revolutionizing a $10 Billion Market with Platform Technology

Lux Bio is poised to disrupt the $10 billion chemiluminescent market by addressing its critical sustainability challenges and massively expanding the potential applications of non-electric lighting. Lux Bio's flagship product will be to improme on traditional glow sticks, which are single-use, non-biodegradable products that contribute to plastic pollution worldwide. Lux Bio’s bioluminescent glow technology offers a groundbreaking, compostable alternative that is both safe and effective across diverse applications. Other applications include food and beverage, cosmetics, and military. Lux Bio is currently approved for the Military and Space testing stream with the Government of Canada and is focused on emergency signalling applications.
